I have a 1976 135 hp evinrude  #135683G, I was wondering if the lower unit from a  f a 1975 Johnson 115 HP V4 outboard motor would work on my 135?
Thanks

My guess is they would work but that the gear ratios are different. I went to the BRP/OMC parts site and the part# for the your 76 135 lower unit is 0387580 while the 75 115 is 0387589. Looking deeper the part#'s for the ring and pinion gears are also diifferent however the gearcase casting, driveshaft and shift rod part#'s are identical so it should bolt up just fine. The gear ratio for the 135 is probably taller for more top end with the additional HP so you may have to install a higher pitch propeller to compensate and prevent from over reving the motor at wide open throttle.

Here's a link to the BRP/OMC parts website so you can see for yourself.
