Hi all, When using drive shaft shim gauge (P/N 315767) in order to check  shim(s) thickness needed, should the shim(s) sit between the BOTTOM of the gauge touching the drive shaft and gauge?

Hello when using tool no shims should be installed. the space between gage and brg housing is the amount of shims needed. .020 - measurement is the amount of shims needed. when shims are installed drive shaft will have .020 end play. shims are installed between brg housing and thrust washer and consult parts catalog during assembly.
