Dirtrich

Hello, just found your site and I could use some advice.

I have an '85 2.6 liter OMC seadrive on my whaler and sucked a bunch of fishing line into my prop, which ate the seal, allowing saltwater penetration into the gear case.  I'm not really excited about fixing this myself, but it looks like that's the way it has to be.  I drained the "milk" out of the gear case at the start of winter, intending to repair the problem at my leisure but real life got in the way and I've been working six/seven days a week ever since.

Are seals and bearings readily available for this unit?  Would it be less expensive (not to mention less work) to purchase a rebuilt lower unit and just swap it out with mine?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance,  Dave

Hello most propshaft seals are easy to replace and much less expensive. If damage to internal gears then rebuilt lower cost around 800.00
