I'm running a '04 225 Evinrude w/7 5/8 Outboard Specialties jet pushing a 24 ft. Sea Ark up & down the rivers here in Alaska.  With the jet unit, normal cruising RPM is 4000 - 4700.  At low and high RPMs, the engine is fine.  From approx. 3600 - 4400 RPM, it sounds like it's randomly missing.  Doesn't spit back or anything, but just sounds rough.  If you add any throttle at all, it smooths right out, & cruising from 4500 & up, it purrs...  Any thoughts?  Thanks, Brian

Hello some missing during transition period 2500 to 3500 is normal but would verify plug gap at .030 and throttle plates opening at same time for best performance.

Ralph,

Thanks for the input.  I had checked the plug gap & indexing earlier, but being direct injected, didn't think about the throttle plates.  Will check that next.

Thanks, Brian
