I have an evinrude 2001 150HP FICHT.  On the lake I was cruising at 3500RPM and the engine sounded like it seized (instant growling noise as it quickly stopped).  Spark plugs show no discoloration or metal deposits.  it turns over very slowly (too slow to start).  Should I remove the powerhead and disassemble? or is there another possability.  If powerhead is failed, what should I do?

Hello I would check gear oil for metal . I would also do a compression check to verify powerhead condition. any questions call 631-514-1525
