The oil level in my 1999 Evinrude 15hp  4 stroke increases to overflowing after only a few hours of running. I'm confident that it is not water that is causing the increase. I assume then that the increase must be gasoline, but how can that be? Could a leaking gasket in the carb cause this?

There were a lot of carburetor problems with these engines. Smell the oil in the tank and see if it smells like fuel.If it was water it would turn into a white milky like substance. If it is not water, it most likely is fuel. I would reccommend bringing the carbs in to be checked and/or rebuilt. Feel free to give me a call if you need further assistance 631-514-1525

Thank you.
