Ralph,

I have purchased a 1988 20 foot Grady White with a 1998 175 Evinrude FICHT motor. The power head was replaced in June of 2000 from OMC. The motor has 159 hours according to the hour meter.

Do you think it has a FICHT power head or a FICHT RAM power head. The boat is shrinked wraped in my backyard in CT so I cannot look underneath the motor cover.

The model number of the 1998 motor is: E175FSXEC and the serial number of the motor with the old power head is: 4439333.

Is there a way to look up the power head replacement from BRP?

Thanks alot. Also, Can I run the XD100 etec synthetic oil ? Chris

Thanks for getting back to me Ralph. Did you check with BRP by any chance?

I was told all engines manufactured after 2000 would be the Ram which I heard was a better design. I have a case of XD50 oil so I will use this oil and decarb every 50 hours.
