I have a CHK ENG light that comes on and goes off with the other lights when you turn the key, but the CHK ENG light comes right back on after the last light clears and will not clear, even after the engine starts.  My book says that it is a fuel problem, but I see nothing wrong with the fuel filter (and I previously added a fuel/water separator to avoid these problems).  There does not seem to be any loss of power during any operation.  Any ideas?

Hello I would start with checking battery voltage and if throttle cable too tight at idle. if OK service codes will need to be retreived and can be done manually by moving tps past wide open position with key on and count flashing lights.
